Himalayan Dog Chews and Free Sample of Yaky Yam

.

I took Benny to the Super Pet Expo in New Jersey. At the expo we saw the Himalayan Dog Chew display. Himalayan Dog Chews are extremely popular because they are a natural product that takes dogs a long time to break down. Almost every vendor at the expo had these chews on their displays.
Himalayan Dog Chew is a very hard chew. Although cheese, it is sometimes popularly reffered to as Concrete, Glass, Wood and Metal. Depending on the size and eating habits of the dog, this is a very long lasting dog chew that you can find. Dogs must work the end of the treat for hours, softening it with their mouths before small parts of it can be slowly scraped off. (Source: Himalayandogchew.com)

Normally sold in multipacks or as large chews (for bigger dogs), at the expo they offered a single small chew at a reasonable price to try. When I gave Benny the chew, he carried it with him all over the house but didn't even make a dent in it. I honestly don't know if he even tried to chew it yet or was just being possessive. At one point, I threw it off the couch and noticed it was cracking. So I tried to break it in half but even with the appearance of cracks this chew was too tough to break in half. Eventually I was able to break it in half after throwing it against the floor so I placed the broken off piece in the microwave for thirty seconds like they recommend. It was larger than the pieces they showed but I tried it anyway.

As soon as it was puffy and cooled, Benny went for it again. He was able to break off a piece and was chewing on it for a while but wasn't able to break much more off. Even puffed, it's still hard and will take a while for him to chew. Since they sell all different size pieces, I think the piece I bought was too big for his tiny mouth. Benny is afterall only fourteen pounds. Now that the original piece is smaller, Benny has been chewing at it more but I still haven't seen a dent in it.

While Himalayan Dog Chews can be expensive, you can often find them on DoggyLoot for a good price. In fact they are currently being offered. They are sold on Amazon, some local stores, and you can also look for deals directly from the manufacturer like I found at the expo.

You can also currently request a free sample of their other product, Yaky Yams, through the Himalayan Dog Chews Facebook page. Just click their cover photo for the special codes. Then enter the two codes on their website. You'll also be entered to win a trip to Nepa.

Disclaimer: I was not paid for this review. I purchased the Himalayan Dog Chew myself to share with my readers. All opinions are 100% mine.
