Shared Reading: New Uses for Old Things

.

Real Simple has complied a list of 50 new uses for old things. Some of the ideas are really cute so I wanted to share them with my readers. Check out the original article for all 50 ideas.

Twister Mat as Tablecloth
Protect the dinner table during a kid’s party, so right-hand-red Kool-Aid spills and left-hand-blueberry pie blobs don’t become permanent features.
If you choose to use this idea, I recommend either bleaching the mat, or buying a new mat for this purpose. Another option is to buy a clear plastic table cloth from the dollar store to put over it. Either way it will look really cute.

At a party, stash ice in a colander set on top of a bucket or a bowl. Water will drain out, and guests will get only the solid stuff.
This is a really cute idea. You can find fun looking colanders at garage sales or even dollar stores.

A giveaway shower cap becomes the perfect wrapper for shoes when traveling, preventing them from dirtying clothes packed in your suitcase.
I would have never thought if this but it's a great idea. I normally just use a plastic shopping bag.

Check out Real Simple for more ways to reuse old things.
