Shared Reading: Is Going to an Elite College Worth the Cost?

Sometimes I feel like I'll be paying off my college loans for the rest of my life. NY Times recently published an article about the expensive of colleges and asked one major question... Is going to an elite college worth the cost?

The sluggish economy and rising costs of college have only intensified questions about whether expensive, prestigious colleges make any difference. Do their graduates make more money? Get into better professional programs? Make better connections? And are they more satisfied with their lives, or at least with their work?

I personally went to a state school and I don't think my education was lacking. Perhaps your career goals make the real difference. I choose to study education which as a profession has a steady salary across the board. People that choose to go into medicine might see those ivy league schools as a stepping stone to the premiere medical schools.
