Free (After $70 Rebate) Tablet from TigerDirect.com

TigerDirect.com has a great promotion right now for Black Friday. You can get a Proscan 7" Android 4.4 KitKat Tablet with McAfee 2015 Multi Access 1 User 5 Devices Bundle for free after a $70 mail-in rebate. It's not the world's greatest tablet, but it is free. This would make a great gift for a young child that is likely to break a tablet easily or just to have as a spare.

This rebate does have a small catch, you must enable the auto renewal on the McAfee software. I recommend if you don't plan to use the auto renewal that you set a reminder in your calendar based on the rebate's requirements.
The product must be activated. Follow the instructions on the Quick Start Guide in the package to Activate. You must enable Auto Renewal with a valid Credit Card prior to rebate redemption. To enable Auto Renewal: Activate your subscription by following installation instructions included in the package. Login in to your McAfee Account at: http://www.mcafee.com/myaccount. Click on “My Account”. Click on “Auto-Renewal Settings”. Click on “Turn On” to enable Auto-Renewal for this product – valid credit card required. $10 (Up to $30) Statement Credit on American Express for Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is a promotion that was started with the help of American Express to promote shopping at the local mom & pop type stores instead of huge box companies that outsource.

From now until 11:59 P.M. MST on November 29, 2014 (unless the registration limit is reached sooner) you can register your American Express card for Small Business Saturday. You must register your card for the promotion in order to qualify.

On November 29, 2014, head out to your local small business and go shopping. You must spend at least $10 in one transaction (not two $5 transactions) and American Express will credit your account $10. That means that when you get your monthly statement, you'll see the purchase but you'll also see a $10 payment made by American Express. It's basically free money. This year, American Express will allow you to participate in this offer three times. That means you can earn up to a $30 credit.

Please note that the link provided is American Express' website https://www.americanexpress.com/us/small-business/shop-small/. From American Express you will be forwarded to a different American Express domain to register for the promotion. I provided the American Express link instead of the direct link to the registration page so that you can be assured this is an actual American Express promotion. Never give credit card information to a third party without first verifying the promotion with the original source.

Limit three (3) $10 statement credits per eligible American Express Card. To receive the offer, Card Members must register any eligible American Express Card for this offer. Corporate Cards and all prepaid Card products (other than American Express Serve® and Bluebird®) are not eligible. Full Offer Details

Possible Free $5 Credit on Paypal

Right now, PayPal is trying to spread the word that they are good for more than just eBay. To do this, they are offering deals to customers to try out.

Click through their slideshow which demonstrates how PayPal is more secure than a credit card for online purchasing. On the final slide, you will be told to choose your offer. The last offer on the bottom is a $5 PayPal credit. It will ask you for your PayPal email address (no password required) to send the credit. Within a week, you should receive an email with more details.

Purchases made on international websites should be paid with the Visa, MasterCard or Amex credit card associated to the user's PayPal account. Purchases may be subject to taxes and/or fees. It is the user's responsibility to verify and pay for any additional fees as well as to ensure that the import of the product is allowed to his or her country of residence. More Free Apps With Coin Return on Amazon

The Amazon App store keeps making it even easier to get valuable apps for free. To celebrate Memorial Day, you can get five free apps on Amazon. Want something even better? Each of the five apps come with 200 Amazon Coins for free, 1000 coins total if you select all five apps.

You can use those free coins to purchase Grand Theft Auto which I told you about the other day for 699 coins and earn an addition 2000. Amazon Coins can be used to purchase apps from the store or in-game purchases.

Possible Money Maker on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Android

Did you pick up those great free photo apps the other day on Amazon? Each one of the apps came with 100 Amazon Coins. Today, Amazon announced a new promotion for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The game costs $6.99, or 699 Amazon Coins. When you buy GTA, you'll get 2000 Amazon Coins for free.

I'm waiting for confirmation that you'll earn the promotional coins if you spend coins, but this is a potential golden opportunity. You'll spend 699 Amazon Coins which you already got for free from previous promotions, and end up with 2000. That's 1301 extra Amazon Coins and a new game. Each coin is equivalent to a penny when buying apps on Amazon.

Edit: I tried it myself and the promotion DOES work if you buy it with coins.

Free Photo Apps With Additional Free Apps Potential

There are currently nine free photo apps on Amazon.com which can help expand the current features of your phone or tablet's camera. Even better? Each free app will earn you 100 Amazon coins which can be used to purchase additional apps through Amazon.com or your phone's Amazon App Store.

When using coins for purchases, they are equal to a penny. Therefore, each free app will earn you $1 in credit towards another app.

Free 8GB SD Card After Rebate

Tiger Direct has a great one day only promotion. Today only (May 13, 2014) you can get up to two Centon 8GB SDHC Flash Cards (Item#: C01-1330 | Model#: S1-SDHC4-8G) for free, including shipping. The SD cards are priced at $9.99 each and come with a $10 mail-in rebate. You may claim a rebate for two cards ($20 total). 8GB is a decent size for non-professional photographers, so two cards are a great addition to your vacation packing.

The rebate form will be available on the item's page, but just in case you can't find it. You can go directly to the rebate form.

Turn this free deal into a money maker by going through Shop at Home. You'll get 4% back.

Free Purina Beggin' Strips at Target

Right now, you can pick up some free dog treats at Target using a great coupon directly from Purina's website. Head over and print out two coupons for $3 off any one (1) package of Purina brand Dog Snacks. Purina Beggin' Strips are on sale at Target for 2 for $5 which means that you can get two free bags of dog treats. Some Targets offer overage on coupons which means that the extra $1 towards a different item in your cart. This is the company policy but I've heard of some areas not honoring it.

If you don't have a dog, please consider picking up some treats for your local shelters. Even dogs without families love treats.

New Account Bonuses on Capital One 360

To celebrate Black Friday, Capital One 360 is hosting their annual sale by increasing their usual $50 new account bonus. The bonuses are available now through December 2, 2014 at 11:59 PM (EST).
  • Checking account - $125 bonus
  • Savings account - $75 bonus
  • ShareBuilder - $150 bonus
  • Home Loans - Discounts on closing
  • Friend Referrals - $100 for two friends
I have personally had an account since 2009 and love the simplicity of it. The interest rate is slightly higher than the local banks and you can deposit checks by uploading pictures. I use it mostly for savings and have a local bank for my day to day banking, but as I mentioned Capital One 360 has a higher interest rate.

Make sure you read all the fine print and details regarding these offers. While Capital One 360 is a great bank and I personally opened my account with a similar offer a few years ago, there are a few steps you need to take to make sure you get the promotional money. It's not as simple as opening the account and then withdrawing the cash.

Capital One 360 is FDIC insured so you can feel safe saving your money with them.

Cheap (Possibly Free) Kitchen Electronics at Kohls

Kohls has begun offering their Black Friday deals online and do they have some great deals on kitchen electronics. The following electronics are $19.99 with a $12 mail-in rebate, making the final price $7.99 each.
  • Crock-Pot 4-qt. Programmable Slow Cooker
  • Presto Cool Touch 20-in. Electric Griddle
  • Bella Rotating Waffle Maker
  • Bella Panini Maker
Here's where the even better deal comes in. First, if you buy three items you will layout $59.97. This will qualify you for free shipping AND $15 in Kohls cash to use towards a future purchase. That brings your final cost for the three electronics to $8.99, or $2.99 each. You can also use the promotional code BLACKFRI to save an additional 15%. Since you're going to shop online, go through Shop at Home which is currently offering 10% back on Kohls.com purchases. The 10% will be calculated from the amount you spend, not the after rebate value. This means that you will get $5.09 back.

The final math for three items will look like this:
  • Buy three electronics for $19.99 - $59.97
  • Promo code BLACKFRI for 15% off - $8.99
  • Get 10% back from Shop at Home - $5.09
  • Submit $12 rebate form for three items - $36
  • Get $15 Kohls cash - $15
You will end with a profit of $5.11. While there is no cost for shipping, you will still need to pay tax. Therefore, depending on where you live this can still be free or have a small cost associated. The rebate is valid for up to 5 items, however you will be $0.05 short for a second $15 Kohls Cash. This means that that if you buy 5 electronics, you'll pay $1.47 total, or $0.29 each.

Even without using Shop at Home, you'll still come out with all three products being free after the rebates and Kohls Cash. If this is your first time using Shop at Home, you'll also get a $5 new member bonus. That will turn this into a money making deal.

Great Free Stuff and Moneymaking Deals from CVS

Make sure you get over to CVS before Thanksgiving because they are running a ton of great deals. You can get stuff for free after extrabucks. The free items include select candy, OTC medicines, and more.

A great money making deal is for the Paypal pre-paid Mastercard. When you buy a $150 Paypal Mastercard, with a $4.95 activation fee, you'll get $50 extrabucks® rewards. That means you'll get the $150 Mastercard to spend anywhere plus $50 extrabucks to spend at CVS.

Check out all the deals at your local CVS by checking out the CVS Weekly Ad.

Shared Reading: Are You Owed Money?

Every year, people are losing money because they just don't know someone owes them. Earlier today, I saw something on NBC about a website called unclaimed.org which will direct you to the correct site for your state.
By law, businesses including banks, insurance companies, utilities, investment companies, are required to turn over inactive accounts to the applicable state after a dormancy period. In many states, the comptroller's office then serves as the custodian of this money until the person, person's heir or business comes to claim it. (Source: NBC News)

For Pennsylvania, where I live, the website was the state treasury and had a .gov domain. I searched my name and learned that I was owed a refund from Macy's. I have moved a few times in the past few years between college, my parent's house, and finally my own place so it's completely possible that I was owed a refund and they couldn't locate me. I filled the claim and we'll see if I get the refund and how much it's actually worth.

Update: I was asked about the legitimacy of this "found money" and I can't answer that with 100% certainty. As I mentioned, the Pennsylvania link is a .gov domain which according to Wikipedia:

To register a gov domain, a letter of authorization must be submitted to the GSA. For federal agencies, the authorization must be submitted by cabinet-level chief information officer (CIO). For state governments, authorization from the governor or state CIO is required. Domains for cities require authorization from the mayor or equivalent official; for counties, authorization may be submitted by county commissioners or equivalent officials, or by the highest-ranking county official.
I hope this helps you decide if it's worth checking out.

Earn Money With VigLink

I've been using VigLink on Making Cents of It for a while now and I know I have mentioned it before. VigLink is an affiliate program that turns the links you post into money makers. To use on a website or blog you can install a small amount of Java code. If you post links on Facebook, Twitter, or other social sites, you can use the VigLink Anywhere feature. You do not need to own a website to start making money. If you are tweeting about a movie, link to the page on Amazon. You won't become rich but maybe it will pay for your next movie.

You can wrap individual links with VigLink, post them anywhere, and our automatic affiliation will go wherever your link goes. Links you post to Twitter, Facebook or even emails can take VigLink and our ever expanding universe of merchants along for the ride. The link will automatically route through VigLink and be associated with your account, just as a link from your website would. VigLink makes it easy to simply post and earn commissions, avoiding the tedious chore of signing up for individual programs and finding the right affiliate link for each post.

My favorite feature about VigLink is something that will benefit anyone that runs a message board. You can override other affiliate links. This means that if someone else posts a link on your site you can still earn some money. I know a few people that run forums for various fanships and use this program to pay for the URL and hosting.

Get Upto $176 When You Open New Accounts with Capital One 360

Do you remember all the great deals I posted previously for opening an account with ING Direct? Back in February, they changed their name to Capital One 360. This is the first great promotion since the name change but when they mention first time customers, that includes the former ING Direct.

To celebrate Independence Day, Capital One 360 is hosting their Financial Independence Days by increasing their usual $50 new account bonus to $100 for a no fee checking account. You can also get $76 for opening a savings account which brings the total possible earning to $176. Both bonuses have fine print attached including minimum starting deposits so make sure you read the facts before opening an account. The bonuses are available from July 1, 2013 12:00 AM (EST) until July 3, 2013 11:59 PM (EST).
Current checking bogging you down? With 360 Checking, you're free to roam. It's fee-free, online and mobile checking that works around your schedule and goes where you go. It starts with:

I have personally had an account for over two years and love the simplicity of it. The interest rate is slightly higher than the local banks and you can deposit checks by uploading pictures. I use it mostly for savings and have a local bank for my day to day banking, but as I mentioned Capital One 360 has a higher interest rate.

Capital One 360 is FDIC insured so you can feel safe saving your money with them.
