Repost: Social Shopping

Recently I have thought about sites I mentioned months ago which might have gotten lost in the shuffle of things. I am going to begin reposting sites that I truly enjoy using when it comes to saving money. This repost is about the different social shopping websites.

As I have been writing my informational posts about different websites that help you save money, I realized that I was beginning to repeat myself. Therefore, I have decided to create one post regarding the different social shopping programs.

What is social shopping? Social shopping is a popular trend where companies offer discounts when multiple people participate. As long as the minimum specified amount of people sign up for the offer, you will get it. Companies are able to offer consumers these great deals because they guarantee the businesses a minimum number of customers. These deals range from restaurants, to shopping experiences, to spa treatments, and more. Currently these programs tend to offer deals in metropolitan areas, however more deals are beginning to appear for online services and multiple locations.

Here are a few of the social shopping programs currently available.  I will continue to update this list as I learn and research of other companies.

• Buy with Me
• City Deals
• Groupon
• KGB Deals
• Living Social
• Tippr
• Juice in the City
• Mamapedia
• Deal Pulp

• Family Finds

I would also like to tell you about a site that combines all the other social shopping websites. Yipit acts like a search engine of the other social shopping sites that allows you to see all available deals for an area. You can sign up for emails in specific categories and Yipit will let you know when deals become available that might interest you.  The nice thing is besides the major sites, Yipit will also check local newspapers and radio stations that offer daily deals.

Two AMC (And Partners) Movie Tickets For $11

Buy With Me is currently offering another deal for AMC movie tickets. Today you can get two tickets for just $11, that's $5.50 each. I found this deal listed under Philadelphia but the details show it's valid in other locations. If you don't see it listed, just change your city to Philadelphia to find it.

Make sure to read all the details for the deal, but here are the highlights which I found important.

• Tickets are valid for any AMC®, but shipping is only available to RI, NH, NJ, NY, CT, MA, DC, VA, TX, WA, CA, AZ, IL, WI, PA, MD, GA.
• Good at any AMC®, AMC Showplace, Loews®, Cineplex Odeon, Magic Johnson, and Star theatres, excluding Canadian theatres.
• Valid only for movies that are two weeks out from their original release date.
• Extra charges may apply for 3D, IMAX®, ETX, Dine-In theatres, alternative content, and premium services and locations.

Four Movie Passes for $24 at AMC (and Partners)

Buy With Me has a great deal today. You can buy four AMC Silver Experience™ tickets (must wait ten days after release to see the movie) to any AMC® theatre location for only $24. That's $6 per ticket. I found this deal under Philadelphia however the fine print shows they can be used in other locations.

Tickets are eligible for any AMC®, but shipping is only available to RI, NH, NJ, NY, CT, MA, DC, VA, TX, WA, CA, AZ, IL, WI, PA, MD, GA.

These tickets are good at any movie theater in the United States under the AMC company (AMC®, AMC Showplace, Loews®, Cineplex Odeon, Magic Johnson, and Star) and can save you up to 54% depending on your locations regular price. If you've never used an AMC Silver Experience ticket before, basically it's like pre-paying. When you get to the theater you will exchange your silver ticket for the actual ticket. No additional money will be exchanged unless the movie has an upgrade (3D, iMax, etc). Silver passes can't be used the first two weeks a movie is out, so if you're an opening night type of person, these passes are not for you.
