40 Free Premium Apps From Amazon

Does Amazon need a reason to give away free premium apps? I doubt it. Through Saturday (November 1, 2014) you can get the 40 apps listed below for free. These apps normally range in price but all normally cost money.

Remember if you select the apps on Amazon's website they will stay in your cloud but not take space on your device unless you want to download it. Some of the apps will work on all Android devices while others will only function on Kindles.

Free Books to Review and Share

Have you heard of this website Net Galley? I learned about this website on an author's website and it's pretty cool. You don't have to be a blogger to sign up for a free account and request books but the publishers do have the option to approve readers. Some books are available immediately while others have an application to review.

Do you love to spread the word about new books? Do you review and recommend books online, in print, for your bookstore, library patrons, blog readers, or classroom? Then you are what we call a "professional reader," and NetGalley is for you. Registration is free, and allows you to request digital titles to read on your favorite device.

If you have an eReader, or eReader app, this is another great way to get free books. Just remember to post reviews on GoodReads, Twitter, and any other place you can to encourage publishers to continue selecting you for reviews. Start by clicking the "Read Now" menu option which are books available to all members. You can also search for authors you like to see if their newest book is available for request. While most of the review books are digital, some publishers prefer to mail out physical copies of the books so check the listing to determine what type of book you will receive.

Expect more book reviews to be coming your way along with my current movie reviews. I'll be using the same dollar sign rating system but I'll have to modify the categories to fit books.

$49 for Kindle After Gift Card at Walmart

It's very rare for large ticket items like the Kindle to go on sale. The manufacturer sets the price and stores can't really lower them. The difference between stores is the promotion that goes with the item. For example, some stores might offer free cases or extra games to get you in the door.

This week, Walmart is promoting the Kindle e-ink. Until May 5, 2012, you can get a $30 Walmart gift card when you purchase a Kindle, (6" E Ink Display). That means that the $79 Kindle will end up being $49 after the gift card. This is one of the best promotions I've seen on a Kindle. It is not available online, so you will have to head out to the store if you want to pick one up.

$10 Off Amazon Textbooks for Kindle

Right now, you can save $10 on Kindle e-Textbooks. Just use the promotional code ETXTBOOK and you'll be able to gain a $10 credit good towards any e-textbook.

Click the "Buy" button (or the "Rent" button if available), and the dollar amount of your code will be automatically applied to your or rental of an eligible Kindle e-textbook. If you have not used the full $10 value of the promotional code on your purchase or rental, we will automatically apply the remaining balance of your code on each of your additional eligible Kindle textbook purchases or rentals until you have used its full value or until the code expires, whichever occurs first.

4. After your purchase or rental, you can confirm that your code was applied by checking your order confirmation, which will be sent to you by e-mail.

5. Promotional offer is valid from December 30, 2011, through January 9, 2012, and subject to change. You must redeem the credit by 11:59 p.m. PST on January 9, 2012. Limit one credit per customer.

Amazon Prime Members Can Borrow Free Books

Amazon has released yet another great reason to consider getting a Amazon Prime membership. Kindle Owners’ Lending Library allows you to borrow books for your Kindle at no fee. The only downside is you can only borrow one book a month, however if you already have an Amazon Prime account or feel the other features are worth the value, this is just an extra bonus.

Public Library E-Books Now on Kindle

Anyone that knows me will tell you that I purchased a Nook because I wanted to be able to use my public library's e-book collection. Yesterday, I learned that the library is now loaning Kindle e-books. It seems that these books will sync with your Kindle through USB or wi-fi, but not the 3G and will be removed after 21 days (might vary based on your library). With the new Kindle priced as low as $79, this is a great deal for anyone that likes to read.

Is it Worth Saving $25?

Amazon announced today their newest Kindle Wireless Reading Device which allows you to save $25 by allowing Amazon to send advertisements to your Kindle. My question to you though, is $25 worth it? I could see if the discount was larger but this doesn't seem like the greatest savings to be bothered by advertisements while you're reading.

You can currently download The Teachable Moment: Seizing the Instants When Children Learn for free from Amazon.

Free Download of Selections from the Harry Potter Cookbook

Amazon is currently offering a free download of The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook Presents: A Magical Christmas Menu: From Cauldron Cakes to Knickerbocker Glory--More Than 150 Magical Recipes for Muggles and Wizards. Sadly, it's only about 15 recipes instead of the 150 listed, but it still might be worth downloading.
